In conclusion it is to say that the topic of migrating and returning in The God of Small Things is very diverse. There are actual migrations by the protagonists or migrations in the figurative sense, when the characters cross borders, including the resulting consequences, such as hybrid identities or homelessness. But there are also migrations and returns in the way the text is written by Arundhati Roy, migrations for example in the sense of formal transgressions, and returns for example in the sense of coming back to the same events several times. The purpose of this work was to give an overview over the different aspects of the topic, both in general postcolonial studies and in The God of Small Things in detail.
